The objective of the sport sociological section is to establish a community within the Hungarian Sociological Association, whose members primarily study the social relevance, the social environment and the social conditions of sport, and deal with the different research areas of sport sociology.

 

dr. Andrea Gáldi is a senior lecturer at the Semmelweis University, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, Budapest. She got Master’s Degree in Physical Education and Sociology as well. In 2007 she got her Ph.D. degree, in her doctoral thesis she dealt with the media representation of female and male athletes in the Hungarian printed media. She is the chair of the Sport Sociological Section of the Hungarian Sociological Association and the Hungarian Association of Sport Sciences.

 

Tamás Dóczi is an assistant lecturer at the Semmelweis University, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, Budapest. He got Master’s Degree in English and Sociology. His PhD research, which is in progress, focuses on the relationship between sport and national identity. He is the secretary of the Sport Sociological Committee of the Hungarian Association of Sport Sciences.
