The division deals with the classical topics of political sociology: electoral behaviour, the politicization of social structure, the impact of governmental policies on social relations, political psychology and communication, the behaviour of parties and civic organizations, etc. The division meetings have the format of a workshop: the discussion is centered on papers that have been circulated among the members. The overall goal of the division is the support of studies with foundation in empirical and multidisciplinary research.
Zsolt Enyedi is Associate Professor at the Political Science Department of Central European University. He studied comparative social sciences, history, sociology and political science in Budapest and Amsterdam and received PhD in political science in 1998. His research interests focus on political attitudes, party politics, authoritarianism, and political institutions.
Gergely Karacsony is Associate Professor at the Institute for Political Science of Corvinus University of Budapest and Research Director at Medián Public Opinion and Market Research Institute. He studied sociology at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest. Currently, he is a PhD student of political science. His research interests include public opinion and electoral behavior.
